PUBLIC MEETING
The wrong kinds of houses are being built at prices local people cannot afford. We need houses that local people can afford.
What?
Faversham Community Land Trust is an organisation primarily concerned with the acquisition and development of land or buildings within the four electoral Wards of Faversham - Abbey, Priory, St Ann's and Watling, for the good of the community. Its principal aim is to secure land or buildings as assets for affordable housing in perpetuity.
Who?
The FCLT Steering Group came together in 2018 because of a shared concern with the lack of truly affordable housing in Faversham. FCLT will be run by volunteers who give their time free of charge in the interest of the Faversham community. The trust will be open to all, and the more members the better. It only costs £1, so please do join us! Click here for more info.
The FCLT Directors are:
Claire Martin - Chair
Sue Bayford - Treasurer
Louise Bareham - Secretary
Stephen Atkins
Harold Goodwin

Why?
Faversham is under the jurisdiction of the Swale Borough Council. Government targets for housing in the Borough have led to significant additional housing being allocated to the town. The FCLT recognises however, that the affordable housing currently being built is not truly affordable for local people.
How?
The FCLT will use a network of investors and financing strategies to secure land or purchase buildings. The FCLT will work with a variety of partners including local councils, housing associations, developers and land owners to produce a portfolio of affordable housing and market-rate homes across the town. CLTs are legally obliged to reinvest all profits back into the community; this gives us the flexibility to build housing to a much higher standard with a minimal impact on the environment. The trust is always looking to acquire new sites, so if you have land that might be suitable for development, please do get in touch here.
The FCLT is a Registered Society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014
